RANDLEMAN, N.C. – July 7, 2008 – The Victory Junction Gang Camp wins the prestigious CINE Golden Eagle Award for ‘Feel Your Heart Race.’ The 11-minute video depicts Victory Junction’s mission to enrich the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun, and empowering, in a safe and medically-sound environment. George Vaughn, John Barnett and Tracy Wilson Gibson are responsible for directing and producing the award-winning piece.

The CINE Golden Eagle Awards, distinguishing excellence in professional, independent and student works are recognized internationally as symbols of the highest production standards in filmmaking and videography. Since 1957, CINE has been dedicated to discovering, rewarding, educating and supporting established and emerging talent in film and video. Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and great documentarians such as Ken Burns, Charles Guggenheim, Stanley Nelson, Albert Maysles and Frederick Wiseman are among the talented list of recipients whose first major awards included the CINE Gold Eagle.

In the spring 2008 competition, more than 300 judges viewed and evaluated hundreds of entries. Entries are evaluated using criteria such as storytelling, production value, artistry, the extent to which the film meets its stated goals and communicates with its intended audience and overall excellence.

CINE conducts two competitions each year, and the current one began in February 2008. In addition to the Golden Eagle Awards, CINE established two levels of competitive awards. The Special Jury Award recognizes the best films in the 27 CINE Golden Eagle categories. The CINE Masters Series Awards (for the Professional and Independent Division winners), and the CINE Award of Excellence (for the Student Division winner) recognize the best of the best in the CINE competitions.
