Randleman, NC – June 30, 2009 – Last Tuesday, the numbers 82 and 83 pit crews visited Victory Junction in Randleman, NC for the camp’s weekly summer NASCARnival night. The crew logged several hours with the campers dancing, singing, helping with rides on the zip line, hot air balloon rides and taking turns in the dunk tank. Pit stops, a favorite of the campers, were of course part of the agenda, in the Independence Day-themed “Celebrate America” week.

“It was a wonderful experience being able to spend the evening with the campers at Victory Junction,” said No. 82 rear tire changer Chad Avrit. “Anything we could do to bring a smile to their faces, we tried to do! What a great group of kids!”
“It kind of puts life into perspective,” said Mike Metcalf, the gas man on the No. 82. “A lot of these kids, they’re just holding on. But it was all about seeing them smile. What do I have to complain about? We have no idea what some people go through.”
