CONCORD, NC (June 24, 2009) --- Before the No. 26 IRWIN Industrial Tools pit crew travels to New Hampshire this weekend for Sunday’s LENOX Industrial Tools 301, members of the pit crew traveled to Randleman, NC for the Victory Junction’s weekly  "NASCARnival" event.

 

 

Victory Junction opened its doors in 2004 and was founded by Kyle and Pattie Petty in honor of their son Adam.  The camp is located on 84 acres of land in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina and is a year-round camp that serves children ages 6-16 who have a variety of health issues.  Over the summer months, the camp offers week-long disease specific sessions with up to 125 children per session.

 

The No. 26 team visited the camp on Tuesday, June 23rdand had the opportunity dine, dance, and demonstrate pit stops to the campers.  Members of the team in attendance were: Sean Meckelson (jackman), Bryan Huitt (front tire carrier), Kevin Novak (front tire changer), Chris Tompkins (rear tire changer), Ben Surface (rear tire carrier), Wesley Lape (tire specialist), Ryan Flores (tire support), Chris Brady (fuel runner), and Jim Watson (driver assist – 8^th man).

 

 

The team arrived at the camp Tuesday afternoon and had the opportunity to tour the facility before they were invited to dine with the campers.  Following dinner, the campers entertained the Roush Fenway crew by teaching them dance moves to their favorite songs.  After the entertainment, the No. 26 team demonstrated their lightning-fast pit stops with a series of demonstrations for the campers.  Camp founder Kyle Petty was even in attendance on Tuesday and offered to drive the pit stop car for the team.  Campers were then given the chance to try their hand at changing a tire and jacking up the car.

 

Team members had a wonderful evening with all the campers and look forward to returning to the Victory Junction Gang Camp next summer.
