Victory Junction is proud to announce the newest addition to our sewing program, Vic the Horse! While at Victory Junction, each camper sleeps in a bed that is covered with a hand-made quilt. They also take home a hand-made afghan and a hand-made teddy bear or a hand-made Vic the Horse stuffed animal. With our plans to serve almost 2,000 campers this year, that's a lot of bears, horses, afghans and quilts. There is no time like the present to begin making these camp treasures!

Currently our greatest need are checkered bears and Vic the Horse! Our campers absolutely love them and we want to make sure every camper will have one to take home.

Dimensions and instructions:

Quilts

During our Family Weekends, every camper bed at Victory Junction is covered in a hand-made quilt.  Our campers get to take these mementos home with them at the end of the weekend !

  • The quilts should be patchwork quilts that are made from cotton or flannelette.
  • We have no specific design requirements…you can be as creative as you like!
  • The quilts should be twin sized or approximately 60 inches by 80 inches.
  • The quilts should be machine washable.

Afghans

Each camper at Victory Junction gets to take home a hand-made afghan as a souvenir from camp.

  • The afghans should be knitted or crocheted with bright, cheerful colors!  Our camper unit colors are blue, green, yellow and red and are great choices for afghans!
  • We have no specific design requirements, you can be as creative as you like!
  • The afghans should be 35-40 inches wide by 45-50 inches long.

Hand-madeTeddy Bears

In addition to an afghan, each camper will also receive a hand-made camp teddy bear or a Vic the Horse mascot.

  • The bears should be approximately 17 inches in height.
  • Bears should be made of black and white checkered fabric
  • We have a standard pattern so that all of the bears are consistent in size and type. Click the link below for the bear pattern or email us for a copy.
  • NEW!!! – Try making your bear unique by making some of the panels solid or patterned fabrics. We just ask that you keep approximately 50% of the bear in a black and white checkered fabric. (Note: If using racing fabrics, please do not use any alcoholic or drug sponsored fabrics. Thanks!!!)

Hand-made Vic the Horse Mascot

In addition to an afghan, each camper will also receive a hand-made camp teddy bear or a Vic the Horse mascot.

  • The horse should be approximately 15 inches in height.
  • The horse should be made of black and white checkered fabric, black fabric, white fabric and bright colored yarns
